Meta and LinkedIn, and why they differ

Meta and LinkedIn are the two paid social platforms most B2B advertisers consider, and they suit different jobs.

LinkedIn Campaign Manager lets you target by job title, function, seniority, company size and industry. That precision is the reason to use it, and clicks there usually cost more.

Meta Ads Manager covers Facebook and Instagram. Its targeting is built on interests, behaviors and lookalikes of your own customer lists rather than job data. It can work for B2B offers aimed at owners of small businesses, who use Facebook in their personal time.

Many advertisers test one before adding the other. The choice depends on who your buyer is and how much you know about them, and a provider should ask about both before recommending either.

Pixel, Conversions API and the Insight Tag

Without tracking, the platforms cannot tell which clicks led to a form submission, and their delivery algorithms work blind. Setting this up is part of the job.

On Meta, the pixel runs in the browser and the Conversions API sends events from your server or a connected tool. Using both, with matching event IDs so events are not counted twice, makes tracking sturdier when browsers block scripts.

On LinkedIn, the Insight Tag records site visits and conversions, and LinkedIn also offers its own Conversions API for server-side events.

Most setups go through Google Tag Manager. The provider tests events after setup, and again after any change to your site or form. Native lead form submissions are recorded by the platform itself, without the pixel.

What drives the cost of paid social management

Fees for paid social work vary mainly with how much creative and how many audiences the job involves.

Creative production is often the largest variable. A provider adapting images and copy you supply does less work than one designing and editing new video every few weeks.

Platforms and campaigns add up. Running Meta and LinkedIn together means two accounts, two tracking setups and two sets of lead forms.

Tracking state matters at the start. A site with no pixel, no Conversions API and no CRM connection needs setup work before any ad runs.

Cadence also counts: weekly refreshes and written summaries take more hours than a monthly check. Ad spend itself is billed by Meta or LinkedIn to you, apart from the fee.

Questions about paid social campaigns

Should I use Meta or LinkedIn?

It depends on your buyer. LinkedIn targets by job title, seniority, company size and industry, which suits offers aimed at specific roles, and clicks usually cost more. Meta reaches business owners in their personal feeds and relies on interests, website visitors and customer lists. Many advertisers test one before adding the other.

How often does ad creative need changing?

There is no fixed schedule. Creative needs refreshing when the same people have seen it often and stop responding, which shows up as a falling click rate and rising cost per lead. Small B2B audiences, especially on LinkedIn, tend to wear creative out sooner than broad ones.

How do lead form submissions reach my CRM?

Usually through an integration. HubSpot, Salesforce and Pipedrive offer connections for Meta and LinkedIn lead forms, and connector tools can send submissions to a CRM or shared inbox. A CSV download from the platform is the fallback. The connection should be tested with a real submission after setup.
